Delhi Township residents will soon have access to two new recycling compactors that will be more convenient and cost-effective for township residents and businesses. “These new recycling compactors are part of our continued efforts in Delhi Township to be good stewards of our environment and make our community a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Sandra Diorka, Delhi Township director of public services. “Once installed, the compactors will help us improve the efficiency of our recycling program to best serve our customers – our residents and businesses. ”The new compactors will require fewer trips by Granger, the township’s recycling contractor, allowing more efficient and cost-effective service.
One compactor will be for cardboard only, and the other for plastic. The equipment will reduce contamination in the plastics stream and require cardboard box flattening by having special deposit slots.
The following items are accepted for recycling: Boxboard
- Cardboard and brown paper bags
- Clear and colored glass
- Metal cans and foil
- Newspapers, magazines and other printed materials
- Plastic bottles, jugs, tubs and containers
Both compactors will be installed and fully operational in early December. Residents should contact Granger with any recycling-related questions by calling (517) 372-2800 or visiting www.grangernet.com
