Recreational Burning

|
The Delhi
Township Fire Department wants to do everything within our
power to help insure that your recreational burning
experience is a safe, happy one for everyone involved.
With that wish
in mind, we want to provide the following tips:
|

|
-
Only well-seasoned wood or
charcoal should be burned
-
Never leave the open fire
unattended. State of Michigan law requires that all open
fires must be attended at all times.
-
Always have a water supply and
shovel nearby.
-
Use water to extinguish the
fire. Keep adding water and stirring the ashes until no
additional hot spots are found.
-
Never use soil to extinguish a
fire. Soil alone may not extinguish a fire, but may simply
insulate it and allow it to escape later.
-
The permit issued to you is for
a specific burning utensil. If the utensil is changed, a
new permit is required. There is no charge for the permit.
-
A permit is required for any
open fire.
-
No yard wastes may be burned.
