and Commissions

Aside from elected Boards,
other board members are appointed by the Township Supervisor and
approved by the Township Board. There are other Ad-hoc
committees, and special commissions that are created from time to time
with citizen members.
Delhi residents interested in serving on any of the
appointed Boards and Commissions are encouraged to fill out
an
application.

Township Board of Trustees
The Board
of Trustees is the governing Body of the
Township. The
Township Board adopts Township policies and ordinances, approves the
budget, expenditures over $10,000, hiring of certain staff, and gives
direction to the Township Manager. Township Board members are
elected to four year terms at the time of the Presidential Election.
The Board consists of four
Trustees, The
Township Supervisor, Township
Clerk and Township Treasurer.
The Delhi Township
Board of Trustees meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30
p.m. in the
Community Services Center Board Room.

Park Commission
The Park
Commission oversees the activity of
the Parks and Recreation Department, which offers year-round services
to area residents with seven parks and numerous recreational activities
including senior citizen programs. Park Commissioners are
elected to four year terms at the time of the Presidential Election.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the
2nd Wednesday
of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Services Center Board Room.

Planning Commission
The
Planning Commission is responsible for the
Comprehensive Development Master Plan, and Township Zoning
Ordinance. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Township Board on zoning
cases, special use permits, etc.
Members of
the Planning Commission are appointed by the
Township Supervisor and approved by the
Township Board.
One Township Trustee also serves on the Planning Commission as a liaison to
the Township Board.

Authority Board
(DDA)
The DDA
oversees the activity of
the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The DDA promotes economic
growth through business promotion/retention programs and works to halt
the deterioration of property values within the central business
district. Members are appointed by the Supervisor and
approved by the Township Board.

Brownfield Redevelopment
Authority
The Brownfield
Redevelopment Financing Act, 1996 PA 381, as amended (Act 381),
established a method to finance environmental response activities at
contaminated properties. It allowed municipalities to develop and
implement brownfield redevelopment financing plans to capture local and
school property taxes from a contaminated property to cover the costs
associated with conducting environmental response activities on that
property. The Brownfield Redevelopment
Authority Board oversees such activity and meets "as needed" when
requests are made regarding qualified properties. The Members of
the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority are the same as the Downtown
Development Authority Board. Members are appointed by the Supervisor and
approved by the Township Board.
Board of Review
The
Township Board of Review meets with the assessor on the Tuesday after
the first Monday in March for the organizational meeting and to review
the tentative assessment role. Then a schedule is set for the
Board of Review to hear appeals from property owners regarding the
assessments on their properties. After the board of review has
considered all the appeals, it votes to approve or deny the assessed
values or tentative taxable values. Members
are appointed by the Supervisor and approved by the Township Board.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides any appeals of the zoning
administrator's decision concerning project development and site plans
relative to the zoning ordinance. One member of the Zoning Board
of Appeals must be a member of the of the Planning Commission. One
member may be a member of the Township Board. Members are appointed by the Supervisor and
approved by the Township Board.

Building Board of Appeals
The Building Board of
Appeals hears any appeals from the enforcing agency of the building code
and renders a decision. The board may grant variances from the code
which, if strictly applied, would result in exceptional practical
difficulty to the applicant. It may also attach a condition to any
variance granted it believes necessary to protect the health, safety and
welfare of the public. All members must
be qualified by experience or training in the building trades.

approved by the Township Board.

Fire Code Board of Appeals
The
Fire Code Board of Appeals hears any appeals
from the enforcing agency of the fire code and
renders a decision. The Fire Code Board of

approved by the Township Board.

Housing Advisory &
Appeals Board
The Housing Advisory & Appeals Board hears and decides appeals of
orders, decisions or determinations made by the code official
relative to the application and interpretations of the Property
Maintenance Code of Delhi Township.
All members must be qualified by experience or training in the building
trades. The Housing Advisory & Appeals Board
meets "as needed". Members are appointed by the Supervisor and
approved by the Township Board.

Sewer Board of Appeals
The Sewer Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals of
orders, decisions or determinations made relative to
the classification of REU factors,
and other sewer regulations.
